For that, we need to pay attention to the environment and to use resources sparingly. Digitization is an important factor in helping to combat climate change. How do you specifically assess the importance of digitization for sustainable corporate development? Ziegenfuß: Change must be a constant in a successful company. The digital revolution is driving changes forward much faster than ever before. That’s why our company is constantly developing new methods for improving production and logistics processes with the help of digitization. Digitization and an increasingly globalized world also make it easier and more efficient for our divisions and subsidiaries to collaborate. We save resources and energy, but also take the strain off employees, who in turn have more time for creative and innovative tasks. Why is sustainability in itself so important in the Wietersdorfer Group? Fromme-Knoch: As a family business, we think above all about the generations to come and therefore about the world we’ll leave to our children. Acting anticipatory, taking responsibility and operating sustainable are our driving factors and are not to be compromised on. For generations, we’ve been creating buildings and infrastructure designed to last for several generations, and we intend to keep on doing so. It should also be remembered that family businesses are the basis of the economic structure in German-speaking Europe. They design, develop and shape the world, and they give people security as an employer. This is a responsible and important task that we at Wietersdorfer are happy to fulfill now and into the future.
