TOGETHER FOR THE REGION Peggau in Styria is home not only to a modern Wietersdorfer cement and lime plant but also to one of Austria’s most beautiful natural jewels: the Lurgrotte. Industry and the community are pulling together to promote tourism around the country’s largest stalactite cave. Specifically, this involves improving access to the Lurgrotte and to the associated museum. A new bridge will ensure that the route does not cross the busy factory entrance as it did before, but will instead lead directly to this fascinating attraction in a family and bicycle-friendly way. TIME SAVED As a reliable partner to its customers, Calcit is using a new app to put the logistics system on a new footing. It enables the entire delivery process to be tracked in real time by both the company and its customers. ‟Insight is important for the customer, especially for their on-going production planning, since traffic disruptions can cause delivery deadlines to change several times during a trip. The app gives the customer planning certainty,” explains 30-year-old Logistics Manager, Žan Blejc. More than 200,000 euros were invested in the new app-based logistics system. Calcit can now track the accuracy of deliveries and react quickly and efficiently should unexpected problems suddenly arise. Subsequent evaluation of data and performance indicators also helps to identify new potentials for optimization.
